Paint Shellharbour REaD
Corner Shellharbour & Lake Entrance Roads , Warilla NSW 2528
Paint Shellharbour REaD is part of the Paint the Town REaD, which is a collective impact, community capacity building strategy that encourages all areas of the community to read, talk, sing and rhyme with children from birth, so that they will be ready for reading and writing at school.
Paint the Town REaD has assembled over thirty-five collaborative community groups across Australia. While each group reflects the culture of its community, all have the same central focus of creating, facilitating and encouraging others to include early literacy in everything they do.
Examples of activities include:
o annual reading days
o placement of book boxes at local doctors' surgeries, cafes, family services offices and even in squad cars of a police area command, to encourage reading
o reading tents at local events, school gates and shopping centres
Paint Shellharbour REaD has a committee that meets bimonthly that interested parties are more than welcome to attend. Paint Shellharbour REaD has a Reading Tent and Mascot (Bangu - A flying Fox) that is available for free hire
PSR representatives can attend events/services, to promote the key message of Talking, Singing and Rhyming with Children.
