How would you like to make your community safer?Edit this Story
I am proud to announce that Round 2 of the Safer Communities Programme has opened.
The Safer Communities Programme provides grants of up to $1 million for security and safety initiatives that reduce crime, increase feeling of safety and contribute to community safety. Some examples include CCTV, bollards, lighting and infrastructure like fencing that protects people and children.
Round 2 is an open and competitive funding round. There is a total of $28.6 million to be invested.
In the last round of funding, Kiama Municipal Council and Shoalhaven City Council were allocated funding for CCTV. Eurobodalla Shire Council gained funding for lighting near a popular tourist centre to increase safety.
I encourage local councils, schools, community organisations, sports associations and businesses to apply for this funding if you think you may have a project that will improve your communities’ safety.
